This quarter I am taking Digital Photography 2, and was asked to research a photographer to write about. I came across the work of Rebeca Saray and was really struck by the artistic quality of the stylists, photographer and models involved.
Fashion photography is a genre of photographers devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. Fashion photography is most often conducted for advertisements or fashion magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, or Allure. Over time, fashion photography has developed its own aesthetic in which the clothes and fashions are enhanced by the presence of exotic locations or accessories.
Fashion photography is not about the clothing, it’s about the message that the image transmits. Beautiful models, quality clothing, really good makeup and an extraordinaire photographer, these are the ingredients for a high quality fashion photo. The interesting thing about this type of photography is that is very provocative, setting a high standard for a woman in the eyes of a man, but also making the women take it as a model to follow.
